Some of these are thoughts about which I have already written. Some are a preview about what we will share over these final days leading up to the election.
1. The vast majority of us have far more in common than anything that divides us.
2. We should not be praying for the outcome of the election but rather we should be praying about how we will respond to the outcome of the election.
3. It is important that we learn how to respond rather than react.
4. Many issues we discuss would benefit from thinking about “both/and” rather than “either/or.”
5. We need to be careful not to deify or demonize political candidates and political leaders.
6. There is a difference between what the Gospel requires, and the Constitution guarantees.
7. Equally, genuinely committed Christians can come to different conclusions about a range of subjects, including about how they vote in an election.
8. We are commanded to love God and to love each other.
9. We are commanded to care for the least, the last and the lost – this does not mean that we are to outsource the Gospel imperative – WE are to share OUR resources with those who are in need. (I think that I may have cheated – this may be 2 in 1).
10. Regardless of the outcome of this election (or any election, for that matter!) God will still be God.
